International Candidates Still Choosing Dubai: Why Demand Hasn’t Slowed

By: Emma King, Client Director

Recent geopolitical tensions in the region have understandably raised questions across global markets. With news coverage focusing on instability in parts of the Middle East, many businesses have asked whether international professionals are reconsidering relocation to Dubai.

From our perspective at Guy Last, the answer is clear: the appetite from international candidates, particularly from the UK, remains strong.

Despite the headlines, we have not seen any meaningful slowdown in the number of professionals actively pursuing opportunities in the UAE. In fact, the vast majority ofcandidates we are currently working with continue to interview, accept offers, and prepare for relocation.

So why is Dubai continuing to attract international talent even during uncertain times?

1. Confidence in the UAE’s Stability

Dubai has built a strong global reputation for stability, security, and effective governance. Many candidates we speak to recognise that while regional tensions may dominate the news cycle, the UAE has historically demonstrated a strong ability to maintain normality and protect its economy.

Candidates often tell us they feel reassured by the UAE's handling of regional challenges, which strengthens rather than weakens their confidence in relocating.

2. Long-Term Career Opportunities

For many professionals in the UK and Europe, Dubai continues to offer significant career opportunities. The emirate’s real estate sector, in particular, has experienced substantial growth in recent years, attracting ambitious individuals looking to accelerate their careers.

With tax-free earning potential, high-performing sales environments, and international exposure, Dubai remains a compelling destination for professionals who are motivated by growth and performance.

3. A Global Talent Hub

Dubai has evolved into one of the world’s most international cities. Professionals relocating today are joining an ecosystem where thousands of expatriates have already built successful careers and lifestyles.

For candidates considering a move abroad, this global community reduces the perceived risk and makes the transition significantly easier.

4. Candidates Are Making Informed Decisions

The candidates we speak with are not making impulsive decisions. They are informed, they ask questions, and they evaluate the situation carefully.

What we consistently see is that once candidates understand the realities on the ground in Dubai compared to the headlines they may see elsewhere, they remain confident in their decision to move forward.

The Reality We’re Seeing on the Ground

At Guy Last, we work closely with both clients in Dubai and candidates relocating internationally. From our day-to-day conversations with professionals currently interviewing and preparing to relocate, the message is consistent:

Dubai remains one of the most attractive destinations globally for ambitious professionals.

While global events can create uncertainty, the strength of Dubai’s economy, infrastructure, and opportunities continues to outweigh those concerns for many candidates.

Looking Ahead

Global mobility has always been influenced by world events, but Dubai’s ability to remain resilient and attractive to international talent is something we have witnessed repeatedly over the years.

For now, at least from the perspective of international recruitment, it remains very much business as usual.
